Find out what is slowing your engineering platform down.

Our Platform & DevOps Assessment examines how your infrastructure supports software delivery, where it creates unnecessary work or operational risk, and which changes deserve attention first. We review the systems you already run and produce a prioritized engineering roadmap. The objective is to help you make better decisions before committing to a larger infrastructure project.

One system, reviewed across nine areas.

What the assessment reads

Four layers read through five concerns. Select an area to see where it sits in the system.
  1. 01

Cloud architectureaccounts, subscriptions, networking, isolation, and identity.

  2. 02

Infrastructure as codeTerraform structure, modules, state, and deployment workflows.

  3. 03

Kubernetescluster design, configuration, lifecycle management, and workload operations where applicable.

  4. 04

Software deliveryCI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, release processes, and environment promotion.

  5. 05

Security foundationsworkload access, secrets, CI credentials, and relevant operational controls.

  6. 06

Observabilitymetrics, logs, traces, dashboards, alerting, and incident visibility.

  7. 07

Reliabilityservice expectations, operational risks, capacity, and recurring manual work.

  8. 08

Cloud costsspending attribution, underutilized resources, and costly architecture decisions.

  9. 09

Developer experiencethe actual steps and dependencies between making a change and running it in production.

Findings your engineers can turn into work.

  1. 01

    Current-state assessment

A technical view of how the platform operates today, including important dependencies, manual procedures, and architectural boundaries.

  2. 02

    Prioritized findings

Specific issues affecting delivery, maintainability, security, reliability, or cost. Findings are ranked by their likely impact and the work needed to address them.

  3. 03

    Cost optimization opportunities

Identified sources of unnecessary spending and potential engineering improvements, with assumptions and limitations made explicit.

  4. 04

    Recommended architecture

A practical target design for the areas that need improvement, building on existing systems where appropriate.

  5. 05

    90-day engineering roadmap

A sequenced plan of implementation work, with the highest-priority changes first and clear reasons for what can wait.

For software companies that need clarity before adding more infrastructure.

The assessment is intended primarily for CTOs, Heads of Engineering, and Platform or Infrastructure Leads at software companies with approximately 10–150 engineers.

It is particularly useful when deployments are becoming harder, operational responsibility is concentrated in a few people, cloud costs are difficult to explain, or infrastructure complexity is growing faster than the team.

You do not need a finished requirements document. A description of the current problems is enough to begin the conversation.

A clear starting point, without a commitment to a larger project.

We begin by discussing your architecture, concerns, and the scope of the assessment.

Once the scope and required access are agreed, we examine the relevant systems and prepare the findings. We then walk through the results with the engineers and decision-makers responsible for the next steps.

You can implement the roadmap internally, engage another provider, or ask Opcotech to help.
